Here's a step-by-step guide to build an application on ByteNite:

Download and Set Up ByteNite Dev CLI

Follow the ByteNite Dev CLI guide to get started with ByteNite app development tools.

Initialize Sample App Directory

The Dev CLI includes a command to quickly set up your app directory using a sample, allowing you to start coding and get your app ready faster.

bytenite app new [app_id]

Using this command creates a new app directory at your current local path. Note that this command does not register your app in our system; it only generates a sample folder and files on your local computer.

Write Your Code and Configuration Files

Upload App to ByteNite

When you're done coding, submit your app to our system using the following command:

bytenite app upload [path_to_app_directory]

Checks are performed to confirm that all the information has been provided in the correct format, and an error message is displayed otherwise.

If you're updating your app, ensure the version differs from the previous upload to avoid a conflicting version error.

Activate Your App

Before running jobs, your app needs to be activated. Each user can have a limited number of active apps, so that we ensure enough computing power is available to all users.

Run the following command to activate an app:

bytenite app activate [app_id]

To query your app status, run this command:

bytenite app status [app_id]
